People often ask me how I got into long distance running (10 marathons, and 2 ultras ). I tell them it was from the patience, perseverance, and stamina I needed

to breastfeed my twins. Breastfeeding taught me so much about myself and the power of determination. What it means to really dig deep.  The "booby traps" were everywhere. My pediatrician, my friends, and family all kept saying "You don't have to breastfeed", "You weren't breastfed and you turned out ok", or my favorite, "You are starving your babies!" It took finding the right resources and support to help me trust my instinct that breastfeeding was normal not crazy. Breastfeeding twins was going to be hard. I wanted the challenge because I believed it was important. With my husband's amazing support we found a local breastfeeding support group. My life changed forever. I can't believe how lucky I was to find such support from amazing people. I was able to rise above the doubt and find the help I needed to be successful. Anything I can do to raise awareness and bring more support to moms as they transition into motherhood is very important for me as a mother myself and as a lactation consultant.There are so many parallels to running. Doing this race is a perfect fit.Please give any amount you are comfortable with, no amount is too small. Thank you for helping us raise awareness!
